Standards as a special shape of the embroidered club flag
Standards are first mentioned already in antiquity. They were being used by the military as an identification mark for the different units. The prevailing square format and the smaller size as compared to the flag were a result to the application especially by the cavalry. Carneval clubs are still bearing their riders' standards during parades while sitting on their horses. Most of the time, standards are still produced in a square format, but they can also be executed in an oblong format, in finest artificial silk embroidery or in silk painting. Fahnen Kössinger look back on a decade-long experience in producing standards and know the optimal size and shape for your employment purpose. We accompany you on your way to a new club standard starting from the artwork, continuing to the choice of suitable materials until the artful execution using precious fabrics such as silk, velvet or brocade.

Club and home sides of the embroidered standard
The front and the backside of each club flag are almost always designed differently. Motives used on the so-called club side are e.g. the figure of a holy man or woman, a symbol from the foundation time or crests and mottos that establish a relation to the club. The homeside The homeside, on the other hand, shows the local church, the coat of arms of the municipality, a city view or a famous landmark together with the name of the club and the town with the year of the foundation.Completion and equipment of the embroidered standard
As a rule, standards are equipped with gold fringes on two sides and with lace loops on the third resp. fourth side for an attachment to the flag pole and the bannerarm. On the top, the standard finial shows a club motive hinting at the respective kind of club. The corner ornaments of standards are normally kept a little simpler than those of the big, heavy club flags.
